Position Overview
College of Public Health is actively seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to assume the pivotal role of Communications Manager for the UNTHSC College of Public Health (CPH). In this influential position, the individual will act as a key advisor to the Dean and will collaborate with the HSC marketing and communications department to provide expertise in strategic communications, collegiate branding, marketing, community and alumni relations, and project management.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively.
- Proficiency in utilizing project management tools and analytics platforms.
- Knowledge of public health education and research environments is a significant advantage.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field
- Demonstrated expertise in strategic communications, branding, marketing, community and alumni relations, and project management.

Job Duties:
- Strategic Communication Planning & Implementation:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing and communication plan and related strategies to elevate the SPH's visibility and enhance its reputation.
- Collaborate with key partners to align marketing and communication efforts with overarching organizational objectives.
- Integrate strategic messaging, media relations, print and online communications, and manage social media platform while working closely with the marketing and communications team at the University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNTHSC).
- Develop and implement internal communication strategies to ensure a uniform message across all organizational levels.
- Oversee the creation of compelling and impactful content across various communication channels, including press releases, newsletters, social media, and the SPH's website.
- Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and alignment of all content with the institution's messaging.
- Media Relations:
- Coordinate with the UNTHSC office of marketing and communications to cultivate and sustain positive relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers to secure positive coverage.
- Expand the CPH’s relationships with key partners and influencers throughout the City, Metroplex, and State.
- Brand Management:
- Safeguard and enhance the institution's brand by maintaining consistency in messaging and visual identity.
- Monitor and proactively address public perceptions, addressing issues that may impact the institution's reputation.
- Data Reporting and Analysis:
- Work closely with the Assistant Dean, Data Reporting and Analytics, utilizing analytics tools to measure the effectiveness of communication strategies, providing data-driven recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Prepare regular reports on communication and project activities and outcomes for Dean’s Office and CPH.
- Project Management:
- Lead and coordinate Dean’s Office projects, ensuring their timely and successful execution.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, establish project milestones, and manage project budgets effectively.
- Utilize advanced project management tools and methodologies to track progress and ensure the successful completion of communication-related initiatives.
- Oversee the production of special events as needed.
- Develop and maintain an appropriate system of internal controls for the management of communications, branding, community relations, and philanthropic activities.
- Work collaboratively with service departments to ensure operational processes are timely and efficient to meet the needs of the SPH.
- Represent the SPH on various committees.
- Supervise staff as assigned.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., occasional afterhours and weekends.
