Department Summary

The Budget, Planning and Analysis Office is a team of diverse financial professionals who provide insight and guidance for effective budget management, as well as being good stewards of resource allocation and utilization. We are committed to assisting all levels of management with their budgetary needs and financial analysis requirements by providing timely information in order for management to make informed, data-driven decisions.

Position Overview

The Sr. Budget Analyst in the Budget, Planning and Analysist office provides transactional day-to-day management of the university's finances by processing financial transactions.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form
Ability to Analyze, organize and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines
Ability to recognize, analyze and solve a variety of problems
Skill in collecting and analyzing complex data
Knowledge of budget control methods, policies, and procedures

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and four (4) years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Job Duties

  • Review transaction budget error exceptions and determine if budget overrides can be processed.
  • Review and approve payroll transaction forms (ePARs) submitted by departments.
  • Use the PeopleSoft financial system to create budget journals, journal entries and ABA transfers.
  • Process daily vouchers and approve department ABA transfer submissions.
  • Run ePAR suspense reports and disseminate to Sr. Financial Analysts.
  • Run daily/monthly processes and prepare journals (e.g. encumbrance/fringe benefit journals).
  • Other duties as assigned during budget preparation.
