Department Summary

The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth (HSC) trains the healthcare providers of the future while expanding the frontiers of scientific discovery. HSC Health, the clinical enterprise of HSC, provides patient-centered care to people across Tarrant County. The Department of Strategic and Operational Transformation collaboratively supports process transformation to improve the academic and workforce experience and facilitates innovative process solutions to support the future of HSC.

Position Overview

The position provides strategic guidance to the institution's leadership through engagement on a broad array of strategic and improvement opportunities. The incumbent will act as an internal analyst providing support to the COO, AVP Strategy, and executive team in driving organization-wide strategic initiatives and analyzing and evaluating the organization’s overall business strategy and performance.

Minimum Qualifications

Masters Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or related field. Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

* Thorough understanding of strategic planning processes, including market analysis, competitive assessment, and long-term goal setting.
* Proficient in setting targets, developing key performance indicators (KPIs), and prioritizing efforts based on strategic objectives.
* Ability to understand and lead both qualitative and quantitative analysis
* Ability to identify and analyze complex problems, determine root causes, and propose innovative solutions with a strategic mindset.
* Ability to think critically, using logic and reasoning to help identify alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
* Proficient in evaluating the potential impact of solutions on broader organizational goals.
* Advanced ability to synthesize and present complex information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences, including senior leaders and stakeholders.
* Excellent presentation, communication, and relationship skills including building connections, negotiations, influencing, and collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications

Lean Six Sigma certification.
Advanced Microsoft PowerPoint skills and strong proficiency in effectively putting together presentations and stories depending on the audience and initiative.
Advanced Microsoft Excel and data analytics skills and analysis background.

Job Duties:

  • In conjunction with the AVP, Strategic and Operational Transformation is responsible for facilitating the annual strategic planning process for all stages of strategy development, from inception through execution and closure. 
  • Supports strategic planning processes and strategic problem-solving efforts by helping senior leaders define key issues, develop hypotheses and design recommendations/solutions. 
  • Works with leadership and key stakeholders to effectively utilize tools, methods, and quantitative and qualitative data to inform strategic alignment, develop roadmaps, and define prioritization of efforts. 
  • Facilitates structured reviews of the enterprise portfolio of strategic initiatives & implications (e.g., budget considerations, resource allocation, etc.) and assesses areas of opportunity, in line with the overall vision and strategy.
  • Provides guidance to stakeholders in defining, and refines metrics and KPIs that measure the business health and successful execution of strategic projects and initiatives. 
  • Supports and consults with the Executive team through the Annual and Quarterly planning process, including the development of objectives, key results, targets/KPIs setting, prioritization of investments, and business monitoring. 
  • Gathers and reports data for dashboards and scorecards, and conducts strategy reviews to assess progress and drive awareness to leaders on strategy achievement.
  • Develops & presents strategy information including progress and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Works closely with leaders and cross-functional partners from across HSC to drive strategy execution and excellence on behalf of leadership. 
  • Leads and/or supports the execution of more targeted cross-functional initiatives and adhoc-projects related to growth or operational efficiency, and supporting the business on more operational initiatives.
